Care instructions
Product safety
Warning, safety and care instructions for the Rotfink knife product category.
Please read the following instructions carefully before using the knife.
- ⚠️ The knife must only be used by adults to cut food. Keep out of the reach of children.
- Check the knife before first use and contact us if it is damaged.
- Hand wash the knife with a soft sponge and mild detergent before first use and after each use. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean cloth. Do not use hard materials such as scouring pads or stainless steel sponges to clean the knife.
- Do not put the knife in the dishwasher. Dishwashing can damage the blade and dull the knife more quickly.
- Do not leave the knife in water for long periods as this can damage the wooden handle.
- Use a non-slip chopping board. A moving chopping board increases the risk of accidents. Do not use the knife on hard materials such as steel or stone.
- Hold the knife firmly by the handle and always cut away from you. Keep your fingers bent when cutting to avoid injury.
- Avoid using the knife on frozen food and do not use the knife to cut bones.
- Never use a kitchen knife as a screwdriver, pry bar or to open packaging. Doing so can damage the knife and cause injury.
- Keep a first aid kit in the kitchen in case of a cut.
- Knives should be stored in a knife block, magnetic rail or knife bag. Avoid loose storage in drawers to prevent accidental cuts.
- When transporting knives, always keep them in a protective cover or case to avoid accidents.
- Keep knives out of the reach of children. If there are children in the household, knives should be securely locked away or stored in inaccessible places.
- Kitchen knives should always be kept sharp. A dull knife requires more pressure and increases the risk of slipping and cutting yourself. We recommend that you sharpen your knife every 3 months if you use it frequently to maintain its sharpness. Serrated knives, such as bread knives, do not need to be sharpened.
- The correct handling and care of kitchen knives not only increases safety, but also ensures a longer life for the knife.
